KRP Lodi is opening soon.
From the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel to the BMW X5 35d, the Mercedes-Benz ML and GL BlueTEC and the Duramax Tahoe and Yukon, KRP services diesel SUVs across our North Jersey shops.
We handle the full range of diesel work on SUVs: fuel filters and water separators, DEF and emissions systems, DPF and EGR service, injectors, turbochargers, glow plugs, cooling systems and the transmissions behind them. Diesel SUVs often do more short family trips than diesel trucks do, which is exactly the driving that makes particulate filters and EGR systems work hardest.
The diesel SUVs we see include the Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel, Volkswagen Touareg TDI, Audi Q5 and Q7 TDI, Mercedes-Benz ML, GL and GLE BlueTEC, BMW X5 xDrive35d, Porsche Cayenne Diesel, Land Rover and Range Rover Td6 models, and the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade with the 3.0 Duramax.
Diesel symptoms are similar across brands. These are the ones we hear most.
| What you notice | What it often points to | Where we start |
|---|---|---|
| DEF or AdBlue warning with a countdown | A low DEF level, or a fault in the DEF heater, pump or sensors. | Diagnostics |
| Reduced power after a week of short trips | The particulate filter has not been able to regenerate. | Exhaust system |
| Check engine light with an EGR code | A sticking EGR valve or a failing EGR cooler. | Check engine light |
| Hard starting on cold mornings | Glow plugs, the glow plug controller or a weak battery. | Battery and starter |
| Black smoke under acceleration | A boost leak, a turbo fault or an injector problem. | Engine repair |
| Clunk or vibration from the all-wheel drive | Transfer case or differential fluid, or a worn driveline part. | Drivetrain |
Diesels are happiest on longer drives. Mostly short trips can stop the particulate filter from cleaning itself. An occasional highway drive helps, and we can check how the filter is doing.
Yes, including its DEF, EGR and particulate filter systems and the rest of the Jeep. See our Jeep page.
Yes. It is the same 3.0 Duramax used in the half-ton pickups. See Duramax diesel.
