KRP Lodi is opening soon.
The Fiat 500 and its relatives are small, characterful cars with a few specific needs. KRP services the 500, 500 Abarth, 500L, 500X, 500e and 124 Spider across our North Jersey shops.
Most Fiats sold in the U.S. use the 1.4-liter MultiAir engine, which controls the intake valves hydraulically instead of with a conventional camshaft. It works well when the oil is the right specification and at the right level, and much less well when it is not.
The 500X uses a larger four-cylinder and a nine-speed automatic, and the 124 Spider is built on the Mazda MX-5 with Fiat's turbo engine. Here is what we check.
The service points that matter most on these cars.
It is a system that opens the intake valves hydraulically using engine oil. Low or wrong oil can cause rough running and fault codes, so oil level and specification matter more than usual.
It is built alongside the Mazda MX-5 and shares its chassis, with a Fiat 1.4-liter turbo engine. That makes many parts easy to find.
Yes. Fiat is part of the same group as Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram, and parts remain available through dealers and the aftermarket.
Most repairs at KRP Automotive are guaranteed for as long as you own your vehicle. If you pay for a repair at our shop, you shouldn’t have to pay for it again, that’s our promise at all four open New Jersey locations.
