Expert Lexus Care

Lexus Reliability, Kept That Way

Every Lexus shares its engines and much of its hardware with Toyota, so parts are easy to get and repairs are well documented. Most Lexus owners come to us for maintenance rather than breakdowns, and that is exactly how it should be.

The things worth knowing are model-specific: a water pump on one, carbon on another, air suspension on a third. Here is what we look for.

Near You

Lexus Service Near Me

Lexus service near you is mostly maintenance done right: AC service, coolant flushes, transmission fluid changes and the suspension work a heavy RX eventually needs. Our Hawthorne and Franklin technicians follow Toyota's procedures and document every visit, which keeps your warranty intact.

Lexus Models and What They Ask For

The models we see most, and the service points that matter on each.

ES

Front-drive sedan, 3.5 V6 or hybrid

The 3.5-liter V6 is a very durable engine. A seeping water pump is a common higher-mileage find, and early versions of this engine had a rubber section in an oil line that Toyota replaced under a service campaign. We check that it was done and keep the cooling system healthy.

RX

Midsize crossover, V6 or hybrid

Lexus's best-seller, and heavy enough that brakes and suspension matter. Hybrids need inverter coolant and brake fluid on schedule even though their pads last a long time.

IS

Rear- or all-wheel-drive sport sedan

The IS 250 sold from 2006 to 2013 used a direct-injected V6 known for carbon building up on the intake valves, which shows as a rough idle or misfire. It is diagnosable and cleanable. See engine repair.

NX and UX

Compact crossovers, turbo or hybrid

Turbocharged engines want their oil changed on time and a cooling system in good order. Hybrids want the same fluids-on-schedule attention as the RX. See oil changes.

GX and LX

Body-on-frame SUVs

Built for real four-wheel drive. The GX 460's rear air suspension can leak with age, and the transfer case and differentials need fluid service that is easy to forget.

Lexus Questions

Lexus Service FAQ

Does independent service affect my Lexus warranty?

No. You can have scheduled maintenance done at an independent shop without affecting the factory warranty, as long as it follows the schedule and you keep the records. We document every visit.

Do you work on Lexus hybrids?

Yes. Lexus hybrids need brake fluid, coolant, inverter coolant, cabin filters and 12-volt battery service, and their brakes still need inspecting even though they wear slowly. See our brake service.

My IS 250 idles rough. What is the usual cause?

On the 2006 to 2013 IS 250, carbon on the intake valves is the most common cause. We confirm it with a scan and an inspection before recommending a cleaning.
