KRP Lodi is opening soon.
From the original H1 to the H2, the H3 and today's electric GMC Hummer EV, Hummers are heavy, capable and hard on parts. KRP services every generation, with the drivetrain, steering and brake work these trucks need.
Most Hummers on the road are built on Chevrolet and GMC truck engineering, so engines and many parts are shared with the Tahoe, Yukon, Colorado and Canyon. What sets them apart is weight and off-road hardware, and that is where most of the wear happens.
Here is how the Hummer line developed, and what each generation tends to need.
Four very different vehicles carry the name.
The civilian version of the military vehicle. Later trucks carried the 6.5-liter turbo-diesel, and the final 2006 H1 Alpha a 6.6-liter Duramax. Portal axles, central tire inflation and age make every H1 its own project. See our Duramax page.
Built on GM's full-size SUV platform with a 6.0-liter V8, then a 6.2 from 2008 with a six-speed automatic. Front tie rods and the independent front suspension work very hard on a truck this heavy. See steering and suspension.
Based on the Colorado and Canyon, with an inline five-cylinder engine and, in the H3 Alpha, a 5.3-liter V8. Four-wheel drive means transfer case and differential fluids on their own schedule.
GM closed Hummer, but parts support continues through GM's shared engines and drivetrains and through the aftermarket.
Yes. Engines, transmissions and many chassis parts are shared with GM trucks, and the aftermarket covers much of the rest. Body and trim parts take more searching.
Worn tie rods and steering components are the usual cause on a truck this heavy, especially with larger tires. We inspect the front end and set the alignment once the worn parts are replaced.
Yes, for tires, alignment, brakes, suspension, cabin systems and the 12-volt battery.
Most repairs at KRP Automotive are guaranteed for as long as you own your vehicle. If you pay for a repair at our shop, you shouldn’t have to pay for it again, that’s our promise at all four open New Jersey locations.
