KRP Lodi is opening soon.
Infiniti pairs Nissan's well-known V6 and V8 engines with luxury trim and a lot of technology. KRP services every Infiniti, from G35 and G37 coupes to the Q50 sedan and the QX60 and QX80 SUVs.
Infiniti is Nissan's luxury brand, so its engines and transmissions are shared with Nissan: the VQ V6, the twin-turbo VR30, the 5.6-liter V8 in the QX80 and Nissan's CVT in the front-drive crossovers. That shared engineering keeps parts available and repairs well documented.
The photo on this page is a QX80 on the alignment lift at our Hawthorne shop, which is a good reminder that heavy SUVs need their alignment checked as often as their oil.
The issues we see most on Infinitis. Each one gets a proper diagnosis before we recommend a repair.
| What you notice | What it often points to | Where we start |
|---|---|---|
| Low oil pressure warning or a light at idle on a G37, Q50 or Q60 | The oil gallery gasket on some 3.5 and 3.7-liter VQ engines can fail and lower oil pressure. | Engine repair |
| Shudder or judder pulling away in a QX60 or JX35 | CVT condition. Fluid service and software are often the first fix. | Transmission service |
| Whistle, loss of power or a boost code on a 3.0 twin-turbo | Boost leaks or turbocharger faults on the VR30. | Diagnostics |
| Steering feels off after an alignment on a Q50 | Cars with Direct Adaptive Steering need the system recalibrated with a scan tool after an alignment. | Wheel alignment |
| Floaty ride or clunks on a QX80 | Wear in the suspension or the hydraulic body motion control system on a very heavy SUV. | Steering and suspension |
| A/C blowing warm | A leak, a failing condenser or a compressor fault. We leak-test before recharging. | A/C and heat |
Many engine and transmission parts are shared with Nissan, which keeps them available. Trim, electronics and some suspension parts are Infiniti-specific.
If it has Direct Adaptive Steering, the steering system must be recalibrated with a scan tool so the wheel is centered and the system knows where straight ahead is. We do that as part of the alignment.
It is labor-heavy because the gasket sits inside the engine, but it is a known repair with a known fix. We confirm low oil pressure with a gauge before recommending it. See engine repair.
Most repairs at KRP Automotive are guaranteed for as long as you own your vehicle. If you pay for a repair at our shop, you shouldn’t have to pay for it again, that’s our promise at all four open New Jersey locations.
