What We Check on a Mitsubishi

A practical list, built around how these cars are engineered.

CVT fluid condition. The Outlander, Outlander Sport, Eclipse Cross and Mirage use a CVT. Fluid condition decides how it feels and how long it lasts. See transmission service.
All-wheel drive fluids. All-wheel-drive models have a transfer unit and rear differential with their own fluid. These are the services most often skipped. See drivetrain and differential.
Oil level between changes. Small four-cylinder engines are happiest with oil changed on time and topped up between visits.
Timing belt on older V6s. Older V6 models such as the Endeavor, Galant V6 and Montero use a timing belt that must be replaced on schedule.
Brakes, brake lines and rust. Subframes and brake lines on older cars take a beating from road salt. We check them on every visit. See brake repair.
Plug-in hybrid systems. The Outlander PHEV still needs brakes, coolant, cabin filters and 12-volt battery service.
Check engine light. Codes on these cars are specific, so we read the stored data rather than clearing the light. See check engine light.
A/C performance. A weak A/C is usually a leak. We find it before recharging.

Will servicing my Mitsubishi at KRP affect the powertrain warranty?

No. Maintenance done at an independent shop keeps your warranty intact, as long as it follows the schedule with appropriate parts and you keep the records. We give you a record of every service.

My Outlander shudders when pulling away. Is the CVT failing?

Not necessarily. A shudder can come from tired fluid, software or engine mounts. We scan, check the fluid and road-test before recommending anything. See diagnostics.

Do you service the Lancer Evolution?

Yes, for maintenance, brakes, suspension and drivability. Its all-wheel-drive system has its own fluid services that we keep on schedule.
