Expert Range Rover Care

Range Rover Care, Close to Home

Range Rover is the luxury line of Land Rover, and the four models share engines and electronics with the rest of the family. The full-size Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport ride on air suspension, and every model carries more modules than most SUVs.

A thorough inspection is the best value you can buy for one of these. This is the checklist we work through.

Range Rover Mechanic Near Me

A Range Rover mechanic near you should start with the air suspension, the cooling system and the battery, in that order. Our Clifton and Newton shops service the Range Rover, Sport, Velar and Evoque with a full module scan on every visit.

Our Range Rover Inspection Checklist

What we check, and why it matters on a Range Rover in particular.

  • Air springs, compressor and height sensors. Standard on the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. We check for leaks and listen to how long the compressor runs. See steering and suspension.
  • Coolant pipes and cooling components. Plastic pipes and housings on the V6 and V8 engines are a well-known leak point. See cooling system.
  • Timing chain noise on four-cylinder engines. Some 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines in the Evoque and Velar are known for timing chain stretch, heard as a rattle at start-up.
  • Battery and charging system. Low voltage creates false warnings across many modules. We test before diagnosing anything else. See batteries, starters and alternators.
  • Brakes and electric parking brake. Heavy SUVs work their brakes hard, and the electric parking brake needs a scan tool for rear pad service.
  • Transfer case and differential fluids. Easy to forget, and important on a vehicle built for four-wheel drive.
  • Oil leaks. Valve cover gaskets and oil cooler seals are common sources, and are often found before they drip.
  • Full module scan. Every module, not just the engine, so we see the whole picture. See diagnostics.
Range Rover Questions

Range Rover Service FAQ

Is a Range Rover the same as a Land Rover?

Range Rover is Land Rover's luxury line, built by the same company. The models share engines and much of their technology.

My Range Rover says suspension fault and is sitting low. Can I drive it?

Usually at low speed, but have it inspected soon. Driving with a leaking air spring overworks the compressor.

How often should a Range Rover be serviced?

Follow the service indicator and the schedule in your handbook, and add a full inspection at least once a year. A small leak found early costs much less than one found late.
