KRP Lodi is opening soon.
Teslas skip oil changes, but they still wear tires, brakes, suspension and cabin systems like any car, often faster because of their weight and instant torque. KRP services the Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X across our North Jersey shops.
There is nothing to tune up under the hood, but a Tesla is still a heavy car on New Jersey roads. Weight and instant torque are hard on tires, and regenerative braking means the brake pads barely work, which sounds like good news until salt and disuse seize the calipers.
Tesla publishes its own maintenance recommendations, and the list below follows them, plus the wear items any car this heavy needs checked.
What we look at when a Tesla comes in, and why each item matters.
No. There is no engine oil to change. They still need tires, brakes, suspension, cabin filters, A/C and low-voltage battery service, which is what we do.
Routine maintenance and wear-item repairs done by an independent shop do not void a manufacturer's warranty. Warranty repairs to the high-voltage battery and drive unit go through Tesla.
Weight and instant torque. Rotating on schedule, keeping pressures right and checking the alignment after hard impacts are the three things that help most.
Most repairs at KRP Automotive are guaranteed for as long as you own your vehicle. If you pay for a repair at our shop, you shouldn’t have to pay for it again, that’s our promise at all four open New Jersey locations.
