KRP Lodi is opening soon.
Sprinters work hard as delivery vans, camper conversions and passenger shuttles, and their diesels keep going when they are looked after. KRP services Mercedes-Benz, Dodge and Freightliner Sprinters of every generation.
We handle the full range of diesel work on Sprinters: fuel filters and water separators, DEF and emissions systems, DPF and EGR service, injectors, turbochargers, glow plugs, cooling systems and the transmissions behind them. When a van is how you earn a living, the best service is the one that finds a problem before it becomes a breakdown, so every visit includes a scan and a photo inspection.
Sprinters share engines with Mercedes-Benz diesel cars. Here is how the van has changed over the years.
Sold as a Dodge, a Freightliner and a Mercedes-Benz, depending on the year.
A five-cylinder diesel. Injector seals that leak and form a black crust around the injectors are this engine's best-known problem.
The 3.0-liter V6 diesel, with AdBlue (DEF) added from 2010 and a four-cylinder option later on. Oil cooler seals, EGR faults, DEF heaters and cracked charge-air hoses that trigger limp mode are the usual work. See diagnostics.
Sprinters in the U.S. are now sold as Mercedes-Benz, alongside Freightliner versions.
New body, four-cylinder and V6 diesels at first, then a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel with a nine-speed automatic from the 2023 model year. See transmission service.
Gas and battery-electric Sprinters join the diesel. Brakes, tires and suspension stay the main wear items on every version.
Often a cracked or loose charge-air hose, a boost sensor, the EGR system or a DEF fault. We read the stored data to find which one, rather than guessing.
Yes, the van itself: engine, transmission, brakes, suspension and electrical. Heavier conversions make brakes and tires work harder.
Follow the van's service indicator, and use the severe-service schedule if it does lots of short trips, idling or heavy loads.
