9-3
Turbocharged four-cylinder and V6 engines. Crankcase ventilation hoses, turbo oil and coolant lines and convertible-top hydraulics are the usual age items. See engine repair.

KRP Lodi is opening soon.
Saab stopped building cars in 2011, but its owners are some of the most loyal anywhere. KRP keeps 9-3s, 9-5s and the GM- and Subaru-based 9-7X and 9-2X on the road with careful maintenance and sourced parts.
Saabs are turbocharged, safe and individual, and they are now old enough that maintenance is about age as much as miles. Genuine parts are still distributed, the aftermarket covers a great deal, and two of the later models are mechanically other makes: the 9-7X is a GM truck, and the 9-2X is a Subaru.
Here is what matters on each model.
Four very different cars carry the Saab badge in the U.S.

Earlier 9-5s with the 2.3-liter turbo four are known for oil sludge when oil changes are stretched, and Saab updated the ventilation system to address it. On-time oil changes are essential.
Built on GM's midsize SUV platform with GM six- and eight-cylinder engines, so most mechanical parts are shared with Chevrolet and GMC.
A Subaru Impreza underneath, with Subaru's boxer engine and all-wheel drive. Tires must match closely, and head gaskets are worth watching. See drivetrain and differential.
Yes. Genuine Saab parts are still distributed, the aftermarket covers most maintenance and repair parts, and the 9-7X and 9-2X use GM and Subaru parts.
More often than the original schedule suggested. The 2.3-liter turbo is sensitive to sludge, so we recommend a quality synthetic changed on a conservative interval. See oil changes.
If the body is solid and it has been maintained, often yes. We inspect it, photograph what we find and give you an honest estimate.
